Update 1.2 for the Home Pilot premium gateway enables the use of devices connected to a gateway with a Matter controller and an app. This means there is no longer any need for multiple apps. For example, you can also use the Apple Home app to control your Home Pilot devices.

Good news for all Apple fans: you can now control your Home Pilot devices directly via Apple Home! Stay within your familiar Apple environment and experience a new level of convenience and control over your smart devices.

It was previously already possible to automate your Home Pilot devices with Alexa and Google Home. Now it's even more convenient: with Matter, you no longer need these skills. From now on you can control your devices effortlessly and directly with the new standard.

Now it's even easier to combine your Home Pilot devices with products from other manufacturers. You can already add Philips Hue or other ZigBee devices to your smart home. With matter, you have even greater choice: simply look out for the matter logo when purchasing and enjoy unlimited compatibility.

The choice is yours: you are not limited to Matter. Continue to use the Home Pilot app, which is perfectly tailored to your smart devices and offers all the tried-and-tested functions. And best of all, the Home Pilot app is continuously being improved with various updates. You can control your devices in parallel via the Home Pilot app and any Matter-compatible system. It doesn't get any smarter or more flexible than this.

Step by step: here's how it works

1. Selection of the controller

You require a Matter controller to which the premium gateway transfers the Home Pilot devices.

The Matter controller determines which system you can later use to control your devices. So choose your favourite platform. Perhaps you already have a Matter controller at home? The following overview will help you decide:

ATTENTION: End devices from matter can be based on two different wireless protocols - Wi-Fi or Thread. If you want to connect Thread devices from other manufacturers, it is important to bear this in mind when selecting the controller. Newer controllers support both Wi-Fi and Thread. For maximum flexibility, we recommend a controller that has both integrated.

2. Handover of Home Pilot devices

In version 1.2 of the Home Pilot app, you have the option to transfer your devices to a controller. Our video provides a step-by-step guide to how this works. Please note that, to begin with, this function is not compatible with all devices. You can find a list of supported Home Pilot devices here.

FAQs

Do I always require a matter controller, or is the corresponding app sufficient?

As a rule, a Matter controller is required for each platform used. This means that if the devices are to be controlled via Apple Home, for example, an Apple HomePod is required, if the devices are to be controlled via Matter using Alexa, for example, an Amazon Echo dot is required, etc.

Am I required to have a Thread Border Router or is a Matter controller wit Wi-Fi sufficient?

A Matter controller with Wi-Fi is sufficient to integrate our gateway as a bridge. If you want to integrate additional Thread devices, a Thread Border Router is required. For maximum flexibility, we recommend a controller with Wi-Fi and Thread.

Can I also register matter devices directly on our gateway if it works as a Matter bridge?

No, that is not possible. Additional Matter-enabled devices must always be registered with the Matter controller.

How is our gateway registered with the Matter controller?

Our gateway generates a Matter code in a new menu item, which must then be entered in the app of the respective platform.
